Why a father and son started a water company

Jim spent his career learning how products get built and how companies get run. Charles spent his building industrial automation that has to keep working with nobody watching. We put those two things together to solve a problem every building has and almost nobody measures: water that leaks, runs, and gets wasted for months before anyone notices.

A family company makes promises differently. When you call NOWi, you reach a person who is there for you, not a ticket queue. We stand by our support. We build hardware we are proud to put our name on, price it honestly, and stick around after the sale.

The Founders

  • Jim Fayal, Co-Founder

    Jim holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Cornell, an MS from UConn, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He started in plastics manufacturing, learning how products are designed, tooled, and built at scale, then spent much of his career in mergers and acquisitions. He brings NOWi a clear view of how hardware gets made and what turns a good product into a durable business. An avid sailor, Jim has spent much of his life on the water.

  • Charles Fayal, Co-Founder

    Charles studied biomedical and electrical engineering at UConn and began his career at Symbotic, the warehouse automation company, first integrating controls on live customer sites, then building the fleet control software behind several hundred robots, and ultimately leading a software engineering team. That mix of field work and software that must run unattended is the foundation of NOWi. Charles leads product and technology. Outside of work he is an avid sailor, surfer, and mountain biker.
